Mentorship& Growth
I mentor students and early-career professionals as they grow in pharmaceutical research, manufacturing, quality systems, leadership, and academic practice. I guide them in navigating career paths aligned with their strengths and aspirations while fostering integrity, professional excellence, and a strong sense of purpose.

Framing the right question and interpreting the evidence critically.
Formulation choices and the path from concept to product.
Operations, quality systems, and regulatory responsibility.
Direction, judgement, and confidence at career turning points.
Mentorship looks different at each stage. What stays constant is the focus on judgement, integrity, and the confidence to keep learning.
Students
Many students meet pharmacy through the dispensary alone. My aim in moving into academia was to help them see the scale of the opportunity in pharmaceutical manufacturing: research, product development, formulation, production operations, quality control, and regulatory affairs.

Mentoring is not simply about transferring knowledge; it is about creating a continuing cycle of professional development.
Conversations start from the mentee’s own context, goals, and the decision actually in front of them.
The work is testing assumptions and reasoning through choices, not handing over ready-made answers.
A mentoring relationship produces a professional who can stand independently and mentor others. The mentee should begin by mentoring others under supervision, just as other professional skills are developed, and eventually become a mentor who develops others.
Women in the pharmaceutical sector
The pharmaceutical industry depends on the quality of what it makes, and quality work rewards care and attention to detail. Yet women remain underrepresented in senior leadership. Deliberate mentoring, leadership training, internship pathways, and visible role models are what build a critical mass, and that is work worth doing on purpose.

“We are transfer vessels, shaped by the knowledge, experience and values entrusted to us, and called to pass them on to others.”
— Dr. Sarah Vugigi, PhD
Knowledge that stops with one person expires with them. Guidance, honestly given, is what keeps it in circulation and lets the next professional start from further along.
